An Advanced Law Enforcement Sniper Curriculum
Course Description
This is a reality-based course designed for the basic or experienced law enforcement sniper. In this course the students will greatly improve and/or enhance their skill set as a law enforcement precision marksman. From various shooting positions to extended range engagements, this course will challenge the student to surpass their comfort zone and take their skills to the next level. This course also serves as an excellent sustainment course for the experienced marksman. Students will be required to engage targets as far away as 1000 yards.
Pre-Requisites
Attendees of this course should have attended a basic sniper course and have a foundation of precision rifle shooting and law enforcement sniper laws, policies, and procedures. Students will be expected to consistently engage targets between 50 and 600 yards. Students will also be challenged in this course to engage targets between 500 and 1000 yards.

- Weapons and Equipment
- Maintaining data books and range cards
- Long range marksmanship fundamentals (600 to 1000 yards)
- Known and unknown distance targets
- Improvised rests and OTP (Other Than Prone) shooting positions
- Shooter and observer dialogue
- Estimating and correcting for environmental factors (Wind, temp, humidity, etc.)
- Range estimation techniques
- Stalking, camouflage, and concealment techniques
- Low light engagements
- And more…
Required Equipment
- A tactical precision rifle with at least 1 MOA accuracy (1 inch or less at 100 yards)
- A quality scope with MOA or Milliradian reticle
- 300 rounds of match grade ammunition
- Spotting scope (1 per team)
- Sniper rifle data book
- Ghillie suit or camo uniform for stalking exercise
